worst of the worst

Hello Sweetie! (Doctor Who reference... don't ask)
Remember that post about fabulous homecoming dresses? Well here are the worst ones I found, and yes, there are plenty.
And no, I'm not telling you where I found them, because I'm saving you from buying them.

I wonder which short, infamously-orange, Jersey resident she is trying to look like. Hmmmm....

Skirt = gold spray-painted trash bag

This is one of the cheapest looking dresses I've ever seen. It looks like it's made of colored plastic wrap over blue tissue paper.

Turquoise One Shoulder Dresses

This must be related to the one above. They're the cheap ugly blue fabric, one-shoulder mini-dress twins.

I love her creepy facial expression. The sleeve looks like it's lined with duck tape.

Celeste-Black/Fuchsia Homecoming Dress

What is this monstrosity.

This isn't how you design a choker neckline dress. It's not actually supposed to choke someone.

Oh dear gawd..

Black Strapless Cocktail Dresses

It's amazing how unflattering this dress is. Puckering cheap fabric along the middle of one's body is the worst way to show it off.

Luminous Tie-Shoulder Dress

Tight, one-shoulder bib dress-- For more modest individuals

Super hyper colorful twins. They seem very happy.

Super extreme shoulder pad = not always flattering with a super tight mini-dress

Wow that's bad. I'm still in shock someone would let their daughter/relative/friend/facebook friend/acquaintance wear this horrific-ness.

I hope you enjoyed that ugliness. See you next time sweetie! :)

best of the best

Homecoming that is.
So I decided I'm going to try and attend every single dance at my school this year. We'll see how that goes, but I'm sure I'll have fun at every single one.
So I started looking up dresses for homecoming (I think I may already have a dress that works, but I was bored and started looking up dresses).
Here are the best:

I seriously could not find the designer of this dress, which makes me so so sad. Not only is this frock adorable, it also works for all body types. Price Range: 120-130$

Fire Hardware Detailed Strapless Dress (Juniors)

Design by Fire Hardware
Do you love that tribal trend? If so, This dress will most likely appeal to you. Simple and subdued, yet sweet and casual! Price: 46$
Find it here: shop.nordstrom.com

Designer: Topshop
From the thin gold belt to the slight colourblocking, this garment screams subtle luxury (or Gucci Spring RTW 2011, whichever works.) Price: 55 euros (76$)
Find it here: topshop.com

Design by Ruby Rox
Sophisticated, fun, and cute. Reminds me a lot of Audrey Hepburn and Zooey Deschanel. Price Range: 75-100$
Find it here: macys.com and rubyrox.com

The Finalist Dress

Design by Modcloth
Gorgeous-ness. Seriously divine fabric. If you love 50s/60s style, you probably can't stop staring at this dress like I am right now. Works for every body type. Price: 70$
Find it here: modcloth.com

Design by Roberta
Totally adorable. The perfect strapless "tea party" dress that every girl searches endlessly for. Price Range: 50-70$
Find it here: macys.com

Design by Topshop
Adorable badassness. There's something so wonderful about a little black leather dress. Price: 50 euros (70$)
Find it here: topshop.com

Lush Crossover Asymmetric Hem Dress (Juniors)

Design by Lush
Really really... "designer-y." Simple, but looks somewhat expensive. Interesting asymmetrical hemline. Note: Probably won't work with all body types. Price: 48$
Find it here: shop.nordstrom.com

Design by Modcloth
Perfect for Boho Babes. Has that perfect "beachy" feeling to it, and is also super elegant. Price: 85$
Find it here: modcloth.com

Design by Topshop
Really unique. The shape is so simple, but the beaded fringe definitely add some fun. Price: 175 euros (243$)
Find it here: topshop.com

I seriously could go on and on and on but I have to go eat something. Bye :)
Oh and don't worry, the worst are yet to come.

don't you... forget about me

Hi :)
So I haven't been the greatest of bloggers.... but don't worry. I am going to be the best blogger of all time. Kind of.
I have decided to post at least one blog entry (whether it's possible or not) every single week.
Prepare for awesomeness.

Anyways, I thought I ought to tell you the upcoming fall trends. Heads up, it's all about luxury.

Okay, so the first trend to look out for this fall is fur. Lots and lots of fur. If you're not a fan of killing animals for fashion, there are plenty of fantastic fake fur pieces out on the market. Also, play with fun colored furs, like the ones in Gucci's fall ready to wear collection.
(Left: Alexander McQueen Fall Couture 2011, Right: Gucci Fall RTW 2011)

Gold jewelry is also a must for autumn. Bangles, hoops, necklaces, anything. In general, you want to make a statement with jewelry this fall/winter.

Whether it's lip color or a shade of fabric, wine is this season's "it" color. However, don't just buy an entire wardrobe in these deep red shades. Instead, try on these colored pieces to see which shade will look best on your skin tone, which also applies to wine colored lipstick.
(Left: Chanel Iman, Right: Gucci Fall RTW 2011)

Bad ass beauties rejoice, because leather is making an appearance on the runways for fall 2011. Again, if you'd rather wear fake leather, be my guest.
(Left: Danier Fall 2011, Right: Miu Miu Fall RTW 2011)

Color blocking is super hot this fashion season. The thing is it doesn't have to be a bold block pattern like a Mondrian artwork, but you can work this pattern subtly as well.
(Left: H&M Fall 2011, Right:Alberta Ferretti Fall RTW 2011)

Love em or hate em, polka dots are back in style. There are plenty of ways to play with this fun print, but remember that a little goes a long way. Unless you really like polka dots a lot. Then go for it. :)
(Left: Marc Jacobs Fall RTW 2011, Right: Moschino Fall RTW 2011)

Are diamonds really a girl's best friend? Nope, but a favorite pair of pumps just might be. These sky-high heels have graced the runway this fall, making those super tall models even taller.

On that lovely note, I am ending this blog post about the major fall fashion trends of 2011. Love you all dearly! :D
